RwandAir, the national carrier of Rwanda on 3 October 2017, launched scheduled flight operations to Dakar, the capital city of Senegal from its West African operational Hub in Cotonou.

The Maiden Flight from Cotonou hub to Dakar via Abidjan took off from the Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport at 3:30pm local time and touched down in Dakar at 18:41 local time.

On arrival at the Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport, Dakar, the Boeing 737NG taxied through a beautiful water canon salute.

On ground to welcome the inaugural flight and the RwandAir delegation led by the Cotonou hub General Manager were the Ambassador of Rwanda to Senegal and Senegalese Government officials.

RwandAir will connect Dakar with three flights a week to Cotonou via Abidjan and beyond to 21 other destinations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The Cotonou-Daka service is in addition to three other destinations, Libreville (Gabon), Brazzaville (Congo), and Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) that are already served from Cotonou effective 30th August.

Headquartered at Kigali International Airport, RwandAir is reputed for its excellent on-time performance, customer service and safety, and has one of the youngest fleet on the African continent.

With a fleet of 12 aircraft including new Airbus A330s and Boeing 737-800NGs, RwandAir now flies to 26 destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia including London, Brussels and Mumbai.
