South African Airways (SAA) has notified its customers of a possible industrial action by one of the labour unions representing its Technical employees, the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU).

SAA says it is aware of the possible impact the strike action, expected to begin today 4 October, could have on its scheduled operations and contingency plans and therefore seeks further engagements with the parties.

According to the airline, assistance will be provided to all ticketed passengers holding South African Airway’s Ticket (only) via any SAA Call Centre, City Travel Office or dedicated Travel Agents.

In a statement issued yesterday, the airline said it would do all possible to mitigate the inconvenience that may result from the notification received.

SAA promised to give a further update Wednesday morning pending the decision of the labour union.
