Nigeria's Medview Airlines will commence scheduled direct flight operations between Lagos and Dubai with effect from 7 November, 2017, the airline has announced.

The new three-weekly service will operate from Lagos on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and will operate from Dubai on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Flight VL0207 will depart Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 14:30 and arrive Dubai International Airport at 02:55am the following day. Return flight VL0308 will leave Dubai by 5:10am and arrive Lagos by 11:30am same day.

The new service will be a welcome development for Nigerians and will break the monopoly being enjoyed by Emirates on the busy and lucrative Lagos-Dubai route.

Medview Airlines had earlier in September, taken delivery of a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft in an effort to boost its international routes network.

Currently, Emirates is the only airline that operates direct flights between Nigeria and Dubai with its daily service from Lagos. Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways fly from Lagos to neighboring Qatar and Abu Dhabi respectively.

Based in Lagos, Medview currently flies to 13 domestic, regional and international destinations including Accra, Monrovia, Freetown, Jeddah, and London.
