RwandAir Launches its West African Operational Hub

RwandAir, the flag carrier airline of Rwanda, yesterday inaugurated its West African operational Hub at the Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport, Cotonou, the largest city in Benin Republic, West Africa.

The inaugural flight which departed Kigali with Benin and Rwandan government officials, industry stakeholders and press, was greeted by the traditional water canon salute on touching down at the Benin Airport yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday's ceremony marked the launch of the airline's Cotonou Hub and not the route which already exists.

RwandAir plans to serve its Central and West African routes from the new Cotonou with a fleet of Boeing 737-800NG.

The airline will deploy in Cotonou two Boeing 737 aircraft and will begin operations in its new second hub in the near future.

RwandAir is one of Africa's fastest growing airlines. In July, it launched direct flights to Brussels, Belgium following its earlier successful entry into the London market in May and Mumbai, India in April.

With a fleet of 12 aircraft including two wide-body Airbus A330s, RwandAir currently flies to 23 destinations across East, Central, West and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
