Ethiopian Airlines yesterday, 1 June, commenced a direct and non-stop service between Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa and Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore.

The inaugural flight took off from Addis Ababa Airport yesterday by 12:43 am local time and touched down at Singapore Changi Airport by 3:41pm local time following a 9h 58m flight time.

Earlier at a reception ceremony held on May 31st, 2017 at Addis Ababa Bole Airport, Ethiopian Airlines marked the new non-stop service to Singapore.

The event was graced by Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO Ethiopian Airlines, members of Transport Affairs Standing Committee from the House of People's Representatives, aviation partner organizations, travel Agencies, Ethiopian executive management and other invited guests.

Singapore is one of the world’s biggest economic giants, among the Asian Tigers, a global financial center, highly developed, innovative, business-friendly and a preferred gateway to Asia and Australia.

According to Mr GebreMariam, Ethiopian Airlines flight to Singapore will have a paramount importance in enhancing economic, cultural, and social ties between Asia and Africa, and the two countries in particular.

The new non-stop service will be operated five times a week on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays using the airlines modern Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
