Pilot Turns Plane Around For Couple to See Dying Grandson
Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways is now being massively praised for its thoughtful and humane customer service for which they turned their ready-for-takeoff plane around for an elderly couple.
According to Indiatimes, a couple had on March 30 boarded an Etihad Airways flight at Manchester Airport on their way to Australia via Abu Dhabi.
Just when the plane was taxing to the runway for takeoff, they learnt that their grandson had been sick. "They were taxiing on the runway when they got the text message saying their grandson was in intensive care and they needed to get there," said Stephenson, couple's travel agent.
The couple informed the cabin crew who spoke to the pilots, and they then decided to turn the airplane back to the boarding gate. The airline's staff quickly arranged for their luggage and car so the couple could leave the airport as soon as possible.
Sadly, their grandson died the following day on March 31.
Etihad Airways has offered the grieving grandparents the choice to use their ticket whenever they want to.
