Arik Air Suspends Flights to London and South Africa

The last has not been heard of the troubled Nigeria Airline, Arik Air as the airline has now suspended its flight operations to London, United kingdom and Johannesburg, South Africa after AMCON takeover.

The troubled and debt-ridden airline said the decision to suspend international operations which was announced on Tuesday, was to enable it focus on West African operations.

According to a statement by AMCON's Head of the Corporate Communications, Jude Nwauzor, “This is to bring to the notice of our travelling public our intention to suspend our international flight operations to enable us find permanent solution facing our passengers as it will enable us to carry out a thorough assessment of the situation”.

“Consequent upon this, arrangements are being made to refund all international passengers of the airline that are affected by this decision”.

According to the AMCON's spokesman, the situation with Arik Air is actually worse than previously thought.

“It appears that unlike previously recorded, Arik has debts in excess of NGN300 billion (USD953 billion at the official bank rate), especially with some banks, excluding fuel suppliers, lessors and maintenance companies," he said.

Only 10 of Arik Air's aircraft are commercially serviceable presently with the rest either grounded or gone for maintenance checks.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.
