The 737 MAX Becomes Boeing's Fastest-selling Airplane

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of General Electric has placed an order for 75 Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplanes, Boeing announced Wednesday.

The top-up order, booked in December, is valued at $8.25 billion at list prices and increases GECAS firm order book for the 737 MAX to 170 airplanes, the largest of any aircraft leasing company.

According to Boeing, the GECAS 737 MAX order takes the 737 MAX order tally to 3,419, making it the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history.

Boeing on Wednesday also announced an order by Travel Service, Czech airline company, for five 737 8 MAX airplanes, valued at $550 million at list prices.

The 737 MAX will be 14 percent more fuel-efficient than today's most efficient Next-Generation 737s – and 20 percent better than the original Next-Generation 737s when they first entered service.
