Qatar Airways Suspends Crew Member for Mocking Abayas

Weeks after Qatar’s Airways announced plans to relax its social media policies for employees, it has suspended a crew member for apparently for apparently mocking Islamic culture.

A photo tweeted by a Kuwaiti staffer shows the Qatar Airways crew member smiling as he holds up two black abayas in an empty plane.

The photo which was tweeted by a Kuwaiti with 745,000 followers, suggested that the cabin crew was mocking Gulf women who change out of their abayas when they travel to Europe.

The Airlines responded by saying, “Qatar Airways strongly expresses its respect for all passengers traveling aboard its flights. Therefore, the crew member in question has been suspended pending an investigation into the incident.”

The suspension has generated mixed reactions among several people on Twitter. While some people appreciated and thanked Qatar Airways for respecting passenger privacy, others wondered if the flight attendant's action was really offensive.

Wow! Stunning! Hilton seems to be taking Africa by storm. Just a couple of years back, they opened the first ever in Eswatini.
