First Cargo Plane Touches Down at Enugu Airport

The first cargo flight operated by Ethiopian Airline Boeing 757 cargo plane yesterday landed at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, South East Nigeria on Tuesday, August 23.
The landing of the cargo plane was witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd and other dignitaries led by the Governor of the State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Addressing the large crowd that witnessed the occasion, Governor Ugwuanyi described the occasion as historic saying that it would increase the profile of the airport and boost the economy of the state and the entire South East zone of Nigeria.

Coincidentally, the Ethiopian Airlines cargo plane landed after exactly three years a jubilant crowd welcomed the first ever international flight to Enugu operated by the same Ethiopian Airlines on August 24, 2013.

The Captain of the flight, Capt. William Williams praised the Akanu Ibiam International Airport and the people's warm reception saying that the flight was hitch-free, adding that their landing was smooth.
