Kenya Airways has received 5Y-KZB, its second Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft as it steps up efforts to expand and modernize its fleet.

The aircraft landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at 1345 hours, flown by Captain John Mathias Kimani.

Speaking after receiving the aircraft, Kenya Airways’ Chief Operating Officer Mbuvi Ngunze said that delivery of the second Dreamliner highlighted the airline’s commitment to consistently improving the quality of its service to world class standards.

“We are excited about the delivery of this second Dreamliner aircraft. It will only grow our long haul capability further, allowing us to commence direct flights between our Nairobi hub and South Africa, Johannesburg. In addition to this, the advanced features in this aircraft will also improve the quality of our product,” Mbuvi added.

The second Dreamliner aircraft that has state of the art inflight entertainment system is expected to commence operations in July, flying between Nairobi and Johannesburg.

Kenya Airways expects four more Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts by the end of the year. The airline received its first ever such aircraft on April 5, 2014. The aircraft that has since commenced service, flying between Nairobi and Paris, was named ‘Great Rift Valley’.
